'Sherlock Holmes 3' Cast & News: Robert Downey Jr Confirms Third Sherlock Film; 'Iron Man' Star Teases About The Plot

Sherlock Holmes is the most famous detective of all times. In fact, the character is so popular that it has hit the big screens twice and has ongoing BBC TV series. For those who love the "Sherlock Holmes" movies, good news, "Sherlock Holmes 3" is in the works.

According to CrossMap, Robert Downey Jr. and Lionel Wigram confirmed "Sherlock Holmes 3." Aside from this big reveal, Jude Law added that he has suggestions for the upcoming film's plot.

"We're working on a 'Sherlock Holmes 3' script," Lionel Wigram told IGN. "I think we would all love to do one if we could come up with something that really was really going to knock it out of the park and was going to be the best of the three. So we're working on that -- it's quite hard to do."

The producer added that the lead stars, Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, are very interested in reprising their roles in "Sherlock Holmes 3."

However, International Business Times notes that it is indeed difficult because "Sherlock Holmes 3" was first confirmed over two years ago and up to now, the film's script is still in development.

The "Iron Man" star also confirmed that "Sherlock Holmes 3" is in development and explained that they want it to be the best, so they are taking their time. "Yes, we have a 'Sherlock 3' in development. We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty tall order," Robert Downey Jr. told E! Online.

Downey Jr. stirred the excitement among "Sherlock Holmes" fans when he posted a photo that looks like to be a set of the new "Sherlock Holmes" film. The "Captain America: Civil War" star captioned it with, "Master of disguise..."

Per IBTimes, Downey Jr.'s post made fans speculate that "Sherlock Holmes 3" is already in production.
