'The Winds of Winter' Release Date,News & Update: 'GoT' Showrunners Says Show Won't Spoil The Book; Readers Will Still Be Surprised With 'TWOW' After The Show

The sixth installment of the book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire" remains to be among the most anticipated items for years. George RR Martin must have been a slow writer because after over four years of waiting, "The Winds of Winter" is still in the works.

It is unlikely for the show to catch up with the book, which inspired it, but this is the current state of "Game of Thrones" season 6 and the long overdue book, "The Winds of Winter." Many readers are concerned that watching "GoT" might spoil "TWOW."

Parent Herald previously reported that "Game of Thrones" season 6 would spoil "The Winds of winter" as confirmed by Martin. On his blog when the celebrity author announced "GoT" season 6, one follower asked the 67-year-old author if the show won't spoil "TWOW" because he wants to read "The Winds of Winter" prior to watching HBO's hit series, which is impossible, given the book, is not done yet.

"There will be spoilers. If I had finished WINDS as planned... I did not, however. It is what it is," Martin replied.

However, it seems that the "GoT" showrunner has something else to say. "People are talking about whether the books are going to be spoiled - and it's really not true," David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly.

Benioff explained that the majority of "GoT" season 6 diverges from "The Winds of Winter" which suggests that most of what the readers will see are not in the book. However, he acknowledged the there are some similar elements, but they will not be spoiling it and he believes Martin will not spill it either.

"People are going to be very surprised when they read the books after the show. They're quite divergent in so many respects for the remainder of the show," he added.

What do you think of Martin and Benioff's statements? Did the "GoT" showrunner just say that there are no spoilers to convince the readers who are antincipating for "The Winds of Winter" to watch the show? Or did both mean that there were spoilers but they won't divulge it?

Per Christian Today, "GoT" will spoil "The Winds of Winter" in various major plots. This includes Jon Snow's fate and Daenerys' situation.

In a separate report from Parent Herald, there are rumors that "The Winds of Winter" will be out before "Game of Thrones" season 7.

What do you think, will Martin finally finish "The Winds of Winter" at that time? Share your thoughts below.
