Does Your Child Need A Tutor? 5 Signs You Need To Get One For Your Child

A tutor is an educator that provides one-on-one teaching to a child who needs help in academics. But how will a parent know whether or not it is time to hire a tutor for his or her child?

Parents.com shared some of the most common signs that your child needs a tutor. Getting a tutor might be necessary for some kids in order to maximize their learning capabilities.

1. Declining school grades

One of the biggest signs that your child needs a tutor is a failing or declining school grade. The tutor you will hire does not need to cover all of the school subjects, only the ones that are low or are declining.

2. Child displays poor time management

If your child does not have enough discipline to accomplish his tasks and responsibilities every day, getting a tutor might be the answer. A tutor will force the child to finish his school responsibilities which is a key to better grades at school.

3. Learning difficulties.

"It can be difficult to discern if your child is confused because the curriculum concepts aren't clear or if he simply wants to avoid work," Parents.com shared. "But if your child repeatedly expresses anxiety about a test and is defensive when you try to help, a tutor can help him comprehend each subject at the current level to ensure grade advancement." A child with learning disabilities such as ADHD and dyslexia will also benefit from having a tutor.

4. Lack of self-confidence

A child who is smart and talented will not reach his potential if he lacks self-confidence. A tutor can focus on helping a child develop better self-confidence and self-esteem.

5. Lack of parental supervision

One of the biggest signs that your child needs a tutor is if you do not have the time to help him out with school work. "Having a private tutor is fantastic as it's flexible, which works particularly well if you have a busy schedule," Tutor Doctor explains.
