Among the most anticipated games this year is Atlus' fifth installment for their "Persona" franchise. "Persona 5" has been in development for over five years already and fans are eager for the title's release.
Early last year, Atlus shared their "Persona 5" progress. "It's been a massive outpouring and we're really happy to see people are into it as much as they are," director Katsura Hashino said per GamingBolt. "It's a huge relief to all of us on the team to have things turn out that way. Still, it's also indicative that the anticipation is running really high among people who have enjoyed our work up until now, so it's not without some pressure coming our way, too."
Despite the anticipation among "Persona" fans, the title was pushed back. According to Trusted Reviews, the title is set to launch in Japan this summer. There is no release date for other territories yet but it's confirmed that "Persona 5" will also arrive in the West this year.
Meanwhile, according to Yibada, a Reddit user claimed that "Persona 5" would be available in May. However, Atlus has not confirmed it yet. Thus, "Persona" fans should still take this with a grain of salt.
On a separate note, N4BB reported that "Persona 5" might not come out until the last week of July. Also, there are rumors that the title might not be available in North America and Europe this year because the localized version of the Japanese game takes seven months to be ready following its Japan launch.
So, "Personal 5's" release date remains in the dark. However, fans can expect that the title will revolve around the characters' desires that at one point they can't pursue for some reasons.
"If there's one thing that lies at the center of our themes in the game, it's the notion people have that there are things that they want to do with their lives but can't actually realize for one reason or another," Hashino told GamingBolt. "One of the goals in making Persona 5, then, is to give those people an outlet to explore those thrills and experience that sense of freedom that the protagonists themselves have within the context of a game."
