Gone are the days when parents name their children after their favorite relative, celebrity or even notable people in history. Thanks to millennial parenting that we can now hear Instagram filters or hybrid sounding words as names of their newly born babies.
The popularity of being hipster seems to affect the choices of would-be parents with regard to naming their babies. Remember the time when "Twilight" was such a hit and every girl's name was listed as Isabella?
Same thing happened to the names Lyon, Hakeem and Dre from the TV series "Empire." Pop culture really plays a big part in influencing parents in their decision in naming their babies.
As evidenced by a recent thread from a Reddit user, happyhapsy asked other users to type in the worst baby names they've encountered recently. Reddit has been notorious in giving out crazy thread for the people of internet to laugh at - and they did not disappoint!
Coming in at the top spot with 63 points is the name "Elizabreth," which a user criticized as possibly a hybrid name from Lizard and Breath. Sounds fun, but not quite an appropriate name for a baby.
On second place with 55 points is the name "Mhavryck," supposedly pronounced "Maverick." A Reddit user was quick to say that he hates the whole "creative spelling thing" and decided to share his sentiments.
"In almost all interactions, it doesn't matter how it's spelled, because you're just saying the name," said the Reddit user. "But then when it does matter, it's a hassle to all involved, with no benefit whatsoever."
In the third place with 45 points is "Aliviyah. Pronounced Olivia." According to the user who posted it, "This baby's parents fit every trap stereotype." Seems like it's gonna do that job perfectly. Other names voted were Baby, Little Sweetmeat (reminiscent of those pies from "Sweeney Todd"), Nevae - a reversed spelling of Heaven, Danger (given by a user that works in childcare) Harley Quinn and Beberly.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's children "North West" and "Saint West," were also mentioned, but not without a comment from one user. "I don't know what Kanye was doing naming his child," the Redditor wrote via Nova100. "And what was Kim thinking letting her kid be named after a direction on a compass."
