Why We Need Wonder Woman Than Batman, Superman: Meet Gal Gadot And Her Amazon Warriors

For 75 years, Wonder Woman has remained in comics until her first cinematic appearance in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Finally, Wonder Woman will have her own solo movie that will tell her story set on a hidden island.

Wonder Woman is one of the many reasons "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" has become a crowd drawer. USA Today reported how the crowd cheered on as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) made her dramatic entrance during the movie's climactic fight.

In a world where male superheroes dominate the cinematic universe, the appearance of Wonder Woman is both refreshing and inspiring. Wonder Woman embodies female power, being a hero on her own and not just someone's love interest or sidekick. Wonder Woman made her first cinematic appearance with a huge bang, saving both Batman and Superman.

Now, Wonder Woman will have her solo movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, Wonder Woman will be an origin story, following how the young Diana became one of the greatest superheroes of all time.

Set on Themyscira, a hidden island where Amazon women warriors live, Wonder Woman's movie will feature Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) along with Wonder Woman's two military aunts: General Antiope (Robin Wright) and her lieutenant, Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli).

Princess Diana is the sole child in the island raised by the three powerful warriors. However, Hippolyta and Antiope don't seem to agree on how Diana should be raised. Being her mother, Hippolyta tries to protect Diana from the outside world while aunt Antiope wants Diana to survive it.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, director Patty Jenkins revealed how the Wonder Woman team came up with Themyscira and the Amazon warriors' costumes. To bring the Themyscira into reality, Patty Jenkins shared how they scouted exotic islands off the coasts of Italy and Southern China.

For the Amazon warriors' costumes, they opted for something unique and appealing to women. Lindy Hemming, Patty Jenkin's costume designer, wanted to show off the women's ripped shoulders and toned legs in outfits that are similar to the comics.

"I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass, and look great at the same time," Patty Jenkins said of the costume. Check out Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in a video clip from "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."
