Finally, after being delayed for a long time, Microsoft is now shipping the huge Surface Hub display to its business clients. Microsoft's gigantic Surface Hub was unveiled last year during the launch of Windows 10, but was delayed twice before it could be released, reports The Verge. But now, the huge business-oriented device can be yours – if you have the means for it.
Microsoft has designed the Surface Hub to be a business “hub” of sorts: a device that will be used for various purposes in different corporate settings, such as meetings, brainstorming, planning, and other purposes. The Redmond-based tech company said that with the Surface Hub, "we are not just releasing a powerful device. We are releasing a team-empowering solution that will make meetings more productive, modernize workflows, and let people engage with data much better," reports Engadget.
The Surface Hub has two configurations, one with a 55-inch HD display and another with a bigger 84-inch 4K resolution display. It's essentially a wall-mounted tablet that runs on Windows 10, and offers a lot of office and corporate functionality, not limited to being a digital whiteboard, a PowerPoint presentation screen and a teleconferencing device using Skype. It even comes with marker-sized Surface Pens that can be used to draw, sketch or annotate presentations.
The 55-inch model is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and is equipped with Intel HD 4600 graphics. The bigger 84-inch model, on the other hand, is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, and has discrete Nvidia Quadro K2200 graphics. Both have 128GB of SSD backed by 8GB of RAM.
Both models feature 100-point touch support, feature Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac/802.11 a/b/g/n and NFC functionality, have multiple USB slots, dual webcams, microphone with noise reduction, and front-facing stereo speakers.
The 55-inch Surface Hub costs $8,999, while the 84-inch model is priced at $21,999. Check the Microsoft Store for more details.
