Fans of the “Resident Evil” horror game franchise will be happy to know that a new CG film based on the game's canon story is being made. More than that, the official title, along with some exciting detail, has been revealed.
Marza Animation Planet, the Japanese studio currently working on the upcoming game-based CG film, announced on its website that the movie will be titled “Resident Evil: Vendetta,” reports GameSpot. The announcement said that the movie will be out next year, in 2017.
The company, which is owned by Sega, also revealed its collaboration with Italian motorcycle Ducati maker by way of a photo, which features the movie's main protagonist Leon S. Kennedy and the new XDiavel motorcycle.
It is reported that Leon will be riding the motorcycle during the movie's action-packed scenes as well as the climax, though nothing is revealed regarding the plot as of now. However, despite not having any storyline revealed, it seems likely that a motorcycle chase will be included in the movie, notes GameSpot.
This is not the first game-based CG film that the title had. “Resident Evil Degeneration” came in first back in 2008, followed by “Resident Evil: Damnation” in 2012.
Although it is unclear as to the setting of the movie, it could possibly be set in the after the events of the “Resident Evil 6” game making it a precursor for the upcoming “Resident Evil 7” game, reports GameRant. After all, the news outlet says, the first “Resident Evil” CG film worked as an effective introduction for the Tricell corporation seen in “Resident Evil 5.”
“Resident Evil: Vendetta” is scheduled for release in 2017, and is written by Makoto Fukami (“Psycho-Pass”), and is directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (“Ultraman X,” “Hard Revenge Milly”).Takashi Shimizu (creator of “The Grudge”) serves as executive producer, and Hiroyuki Kobayashi of Capcom serves as executive supervisor.
