Last week, "Criminal Minds" fans were disheartened following Shemar Moore's exit in the show. His character, Derek Morgan was essential in the TV series because he brought fun, entertainment and twist that viewers enjoy.
Parent Herald previously reported that there were rumors about Moore leaving "Criminal Minds" season 11. O a separate report from Parent Herald, Morgan's departure in the BAU team was confirmed. The actor already bid goodbye in last Wednesday's "Criminal Minds" season 11 episode.
Moore revealed that he wanted to take a career leap similar to George Clooney and Denzel Washington. The two were also part of successful shows, which they chose to leave for career advancement.
"I'm not saying I'm the next George Clooney or Denzel Washington because I haven't earned that right, but without taking a leap, I'll never find out what I'm capable of," Moore explained.
Morgan's exit in "Criminal Minds" was devastating but one character will be greatly affected by his absence. "Losses effect Reid in a different way than everybody else, because those connections are so strong with him," "Criminal Minds" executive producer Erica Messer told TVLine. "When he [Reid] said, 'I don't know what this room looks like without you,' there's something really real about that."
In fact, in the last episode of "Criminal Minds" season 11, Reid and Morgan shared a tear-jerker goodbye. It's definitely difficult for the socially awkward genius to say farewell to one of the persons close to him, Design&Trend notes.
Meanwhile, now that BAU is down with one agent, the report notes that fans will not be seeing a new agent in the last four episodes of "Criminal Minds" season 11. Messer decided to allow the team to find a natural groove and she acknowledges that seeing a new agent immediately after Morgan's exit will not be appealing to "Criminal Minds" fans. However, this doesn't mean that Morgan has no replacement at all.
Messer hinted that there might be a new agent in the next season of "Criminal Minds." "It [introducing a new BAU member] feels like something that would be natural to do in a premiere, just as we did for almost everybody else who has ever come in," she said.
