"High School Musical 4" casting is underway and while it will feature a new group of young actors, fans are expecting old favorites will be back for the new installment. Will Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale agree to return?
Of the three former Disney stars, Ashley Tisdale's reappearance in "High School Musical 4" is touted as the most likely to happen. The actress played Sharpay Evans in the franchise and one of the characters who will be introduced in the new version is Sharpay's cousin, Campbell, so the ties are still there.
When viewers last saw Sharpay, she decided to stay in East High to head the theater department. But In 2011, Tisdale expressed that she's done playing the bad girl. "She's [Sharpay] a lot of fun. It was great," the actress said, per Radar Online. "But after 4 times I am ready to move on!" she added. Has she changed her mind since then?
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are going to do a cameo in "High School Musical 4," but none has been confirmed by Disney. Efron seems open to the idea of returning based in a 2014 interview. "I continue to see all the guys from High School," said Effron via E! Online. "Every time we do...there's just this look between us. It's so cool because we never forget a single moment of that experience."
But will the busy actor squeeze "High School Musical 4" into his schedule? Efron is currently in the midst of filming "Baywatch" and will be doing the sequel to "Neighbors" next.
On the other hand, Vanessa Hudgens was tapped to star in a "Powerless" for NBC. Daily Mail documented her last day of shooting the pilot episode in Vancouver in early March. If the show gets a greenlight from the network, then Hudgens will have a full schedule ahead of her and might not have time to do a cameo for "High School Musical 4." Production for the show is usually done in Utah.
Should Disney offer these stars a lucrative deal they can't say no to so they'll return for "High School Musical 4"? What do you think HSM fans?
