“No Man’s Sky” is set to launch in summer 2016. Recently, three types of spaceships were confirmed to appear in the game.
The gameplay for "No Man's Sky" is "procedurally generated," which means that depending on which type of spaceship you choose, the experience will be different. Players can expect to encounter unique attributes with every vessel. So far, three types of spaceships have been confirmed to appear in the game: Traders, Fighters and Explorers. Players do not need to use the same type of ship all throughout the game and may switch when they want to.
As of this writing, it is unknown whether players have the power to customize their selected spaceships. But given the features for each, customization may not be necessary. If the player is looking for a "lighter" ship, The Bitbag notes that Fighters are the easiest to operate and are most likely designed to outmaneuver the other models during combat. Explorers are masters at stealth and hyperdrive, allowing them to escape enemies quickly. Traders move relatively slower than the other two but are on top when it comes to powerful weaponry.
Upgrades to the internal structure of the ships are expected to be available soon to help boost overall stats. Ships may be assigned unique designs to let players easily distinguish between types.
There are also big ships for traveling short distances, considering how these consume more fuel. Hello Games may reveal more “No Man’s Sky” spaceship types in the near future.
Furthermore, “No Man’s Sky” spaceships may be purchased on Space Stations which are NPC safe spots, located throughout the game. If players buy upgrades for one spaceship, it was confirmed that they will not be able to carry these over to a new spaceship they buy.
Gamer Pros writes that “No Man’s Sky” will definitely be massive, but there are still doubts on how fun the game will be. Players, as well as developers, have no idea what exists in the giant open-world universe. Players should not expect to find hidden secrets or quest systems because Hello Games developers have not visited or explored the different planets in “No Man’s Sky”.
The several planets do not appear to be drastically unique, so some are also concerned on how long the game can maintain their interest. “No Man’s Sky” should be deemed as a single player game, and not an MMO. Compared to multiplayer open-world games, “No Man’s Sky” players might find themselves unimportant after investing hours of game time.
“No Man’s Sky” is set to launch on June 21 for PlayStation 4 and PC. More updates and details are expected soon.
