The managing director of Ubisoft Singapore and Southeast Asia, Olivier de Rotalier, recently announced at GDC that the "Assassin's Creed" developer about to build a new studio in the Philippines. The soon-to-be-built development studio has been said as one of the biggest Ubisoft console and PC projects to date.
Game Spot reports that the new development studio coming in the Philippines proves the growth of Ubisoft company in the Southeast Asian territory. According to Olivier de Rotalier, Ubisoft is becoming "a fast-growing market in the gaming industry" and has a rising young, creative and attached supporters.
Olivier de Rotalier explained that the Ubisoft in Singapore has Filipino workers, who grow their knowledge and skills with the company. In fact, the Singapore and Philippine teams already built a good working relationship and trust the success of building a new development studio in the country.
Hence, Ubisoft Singapore will send some of its experienced Filipino developers to the new Philippines studio to start a solid foundation. "Some of them will transfer to the Philippines to bring the Ubisoft know-how, methodology, and knowledge to the studio," Olivier de Rotalier said.
The Singapore team, on the other hand, will take the advantage of training the people in the Philippines as a major part of their plan. Ubisoft Philippines will be employing 50 new team members this year including artists, programmers, designers, project managers and more, according to Chip Go, the new studio manager in the said country.
Inquirer Technology adds that Chip Go is confident to put up his own strong team to prove that his team can take up the challenge. The new development studio in the Philippines is going to concentrate on working with the upcoming AAA console games for Ubisoft.
The new Ubisoft Philippines will be located in the De La Salle Campus in Santa Rosa, Laguna and will surely have a strong tie to the Singapore studio. Ubisoft Philippines will soon be open in the second quarter of 2016.
