Heartbreak superstar Adele admitted that she grew a beard when she got pregnant in 2012. The singer said it was part of the side effects of her pregnancy aside from her cravings and other weird body reactions.
According to Mirror, the "Hello" singer actually grew a full beard during pregnancy and she even gave it the nickname Larry.
"When I got pregnant I had so much testosterone in me that I grew a beard," the 27-year-old mom was quoted by the same report as saying during a concert at Glasgow's Hydro Arena. "I only cropped it last night. It's actually true. I'm not telling a joke. I actually have a beard, but I'm proud of it. I call it Larry."
Adele also shared that she is not the only one in her family who has facial hair. She noted that her partner Simon Konecki also has a beard.
"My man's got a good beard. He trims it sometimes in the summer," she added. "I do have a beard myself so I can understand when it gets hot in the summer."
Her humor continued to entertain the crowd as E! said that she also made mention of her hair on her legs. "If anyone gets a glimpse of my really hairy legs I'm really sorry but I've got a weekend off, so no need to shave my legs," Adele said.
Mirror explained that it is natural for women to have fast-growing hair in various parts of their bodies when they are pregnant. This is said to be attributed to the increasing levels of androgen, male sex hormones which women can also produce.
It was noted that actress Drew Barrymore also had the same side effects when she was conceiving her daughter Olive. Mirror said she termed her facial hair as a "wonderful little goatee."
