A latest research could leave James Bond 'shaken and stirred' as it claims that his drinking habits could lead to impotency and even early death.
The researchers, Graham Johnson, Indra Neil Guha and Patrick Davies, analysed 14 books based on this fictional spy. They calculated each alcoholic drink enjoyed by him.
In 88 days, the secret agent guzzled 1,150 units of alcohol or about five vodka martinis a day, according to BBC.
"Ideally, vodka martinis should be stirred, not shaken. That Bond would make such an elementary mistake in his preferences seemed incongruous with his otherwise impeccable mastery of culinary etiquette," the researchers wrote in their study.
"The level of functioning as displayed in the books is inconsistent with the physical, mental, and indeed sexual functioning expected from someone drinking this much alcohol. We advise an immediate referral for further assessment and treatment, a reduction in alcohol consumption to safe levels, and suspect that the famous catchphrase "shaken, not stirred" could be because of alcohol induced tremor affecting his hands," the researchers stated.
James Bond is known to love booze, cigarettes and women.
His drinking habits, according to researchers, could also get him arrested for traffic violations as on most occasions, he was found to be way too drunk to be driving a car.
Heavy alcohol consumption is known to serious health problems. Every year around 2.5 million deaths are linked with alcohol consumption. A recent study states that excessive binge drinking leads to early dementia.
The study was published in the in Christmas edition of The BMJ.
