Pink 'Tutu' Man Cheers Wife Who Has Breast Cancer

The husband of a woman suffering from breast cancer wears a pink tutu to cheer her wife on, according to the Guardian.

Bob Carey's wife, Linda, was diagnosed with cancer ten years ago, but the cancer recurred in 2006 and happens to be incurable. Bob realized that it is his mission in life to care for his wife and ensure that he can make her laugh at all times. Thus, Bob, who works as a photographer, travels across the globe and takes snapshots of himself wearing a pink tutu. He does not only does it to make his wife laugh but to also help her bear with chemotherapy treatments.

"It just makes me laugh, to see my husband dancing in a tutu," says Linda. It helps me be positive. The more I laugh, the better I feel." Linda shares that she saves of all of her husband's photos in her phone and shares them with other women. Bob started the Tutu Project in 2003, which is aimed at spreading laughter to women who are also fighting through breast cancer. The sales of his photos wearing a pink tutu made it possible to self-publish a collection of snapshots called Ballerina.

The funds received through the sales of Ballerina are then used for the Carey Foundation which started in 2012, to help women battling against breast cancer with things that are not covered by health insurance. This includes transportation to and from treatments, wigs, medical supplies, counseling and home care assistance. Every $1,000 raised from the sales of Ballerina goes toward helping women fight against breast cancers.
