Acer's New 14-inch Chromebook Packs 14 Hours Of Battery Life

While Chromebooks are an affordable choice, many Chrome OS users are having problems with their devices' battery life and small RAM. Good thing tech company Acer worked on that with Chromebook 14, giving users a bang for their buck.

Acer has introduced the Chromebook 14, a new 14-inch Chromebook that the company claims can stay up and running for 14 hours on a single charge, reports Mashable. Being the biggest Chromebook that the company has launched in addition to its slew of Chrome OS devices, it's long battery life is not the only prime feature it offers.

Acer's new 14-inch Chromebook has decided to leave plastics for an aluminum chassis, making it look like the "Macbook Air on a budget," reports Engadget. ARS Technica notes that the Chromebook 14's aluminum body has rounded corners and weighs only 3.42 pounds. The laptop doesn't have a fan, too.

The Chromebook 14 comes in two variants, a regular and a premium version that has different configurations. Both are powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 Braswell, a new dual-core chip that has improved power and efficiency compared to older models.

The regular model features a 1,366 x 768 resolution display, 2GB or 4GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, and, of course, 14 hours of battery life. The premium version comes with a 1,920 x 1,080 IPS display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a shorter 12 hours of battery life. Although the internal memory is quite small, users will get 100 gigs of free Google Drive storage.

Both versions come equipped with two USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, 801.11ac Wi-Fi, stereo speakers and a 720p webcam.

Acer's new premium Chromebook 14 is already available for preorder on Amazon for $299 and is expected to hit retailers like Best Buy in April. Pricing for the regular Chromebook 14 is still unknown as of now.
