Bonaire Elementary School Motivates Student Learning Via Online Program

Bonaire Elementary School recently came up with a unique approach to enhance their students’ computer skills. A new online program was introduced to help kids to improve in their problem areas.

"This is a program that the kids truly enjoy being a part of. They love playing the games, they love even the learning part of it because that gets them to the games. So, we want the kids to understand that learning is fun and education galaxy is a great tool to get that idea across to the kids," said Willis Jones, the principal of Bonaire Elementary School, in an interview with 41NBC.

With a focus mostly on learning exercise and educational games, "Education Galaxy" is seen to be ideal for children to help improve their know-how and skills on different areas, regardless whether they are studying at home or at school. Jones added that computer-based skills help kids become better equipped to function in the "real world" in the future.

April Eubanks, a teacher of Bonaire Elementary School, further explained that students initially take a diagnostic exam, which will indicate accurately which standards they have to improve on in subjects like reading or math. After the initial exam, students will finish a study session. When they master the session, they proceed to playing a game.

So far, “Education Galaxy” has been getting a lot of good feedback from both the faculty and students of Bonaire Elementary School. Students find the games very fun and helpful at the same time. The kids feel motivated to play the game after finishing their session. Once a student finishes a level, they can choose to play a game.

The teachers of Bonaire Elementary School also find the program very helpful in creating content to check their students’ knowledge and learning. They can choose a specific topic and see the standards. Teachers can make a test and view all the test questions. They can get questions from the list which they can give to their class, depending on how and where they wish their students to improve. Teachers at Bonaire Elementary School are also educating students about the value of hard work.

It is not actually the first time that Bonaire Elementary School introduced a computer program to help hone students’ knowledge and skills. In February 2016, 41NBC reported that fourth and fifth graders were also introduced to a program that teaches them how to use a computer to take a test.
