Wentworth Miller Suicidal? ‘Prison Break’ Alum Explains Fat-Shaming Is Not Cool, Drops Powerful Message About Depression, Suicide

"Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller has recently made headlines when he responded to a fat-shaming meme that circulated online. But what was really surprising was when Miller dropped a bombshell that he was once "suicidal."

Hollywood stars are no strangers to being subjects of mockery or bullying in the online realm. But one celebrity, 43-year-old Wentworth Miller, has recently stood up and explained why fat-shaming and other cyberbullying attacks are not cool.

On Monday, Wentworth Miller courageously addressed an Internet meme that showed his past weight gain. In his powerful message on Facebook, Miller revealed that there was a point in his adult life that he contemplated suicide, People notes.

"Today I found myself the subject of an Internet meme. Not for the first time. This one, however, stands out from the rest," Wentworth Miller wrote in the lengthy post. "In 2010, semi-retired from acting, I was keeping a low-profile for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I was suicidal."

Miller also added that he struggled with depression since childhood. He also explained why he turned to eating as a way to cope with depression

"I've struggled with depression since childhood," the openly gay actor added. "It's a battle that's cost me time, opportunities, relationships, and a thousand sleepless nights."

Wentworth Miller continued, "In 2010, at the lowest point in my adult life, I was looking everywhere for relief/comfort/distraction. And I turned to food. It could have been anything. Drugs. Alcohol. Sex. But eating became the one thing I could look forward to. Count on to get me through... And I put on weight. Big f--king deal."

Since 2010, Wentworth Miller has been fighting for his mental health since 2010. And while the photo reminded him of his struggles, endurance and perseverance, Miller admitted that the fat-shaming meme had hurt him, as per ABC News.

"The first time I saw this meme pop up in my social media feed, I have to admit, it hurt to breathe," Miller said. "But as with everything in life, I get to assign meaning. And the meaning I assign to this/my image is Strength. Healing. Forgiveness."

Meanwhile, officials from the LAD Bible Facebook page, whose responsible in posting the fat-shaming meme, had issued an apology to Wentworth Miller on Tuesday. They said that they were wrong and stressed that mental health is not a "laughing matter."
