"One Piece" is one of the longest running anime series in Japan. The success of "One Piece" anime and manga is not only in Japan but also all around the world.
Because of this, the people behind the successful "One Piece" decided to create a video game that has been very well-received by both fans of the existing "One Piece" anime and manga, and also to those who are new to the title. Now, "One Piece: Burning Blood" video game is also receiving quite an anticipation and love.
Game producer Koji Nakajima and game director Hiroyuki Kaneko of "One Piece" game discussed the story mode of "One Piece: Burning Blood". The two brains behind the highly-awaited "One Piece: Burning Blood" recently had an interview and talked about the power balance of the characters in "One Piece: Burning Blood" as well as their aim to make the game more appealing to those who are not familiar about the "One Piece" story.
"A lot of characters have superior abilities to others because some characters have very strong Devil Fruit abilities, some characters have very strong Haki compared to others so it's kind of hard actually to balance one versus one character," Hiroyuki Kaneko said.
Hiroyuki Kaneko further explained the reason why they have the 3v3 system. He said it is to match the characters strength and weaknesses with their chosen three characters. As to why they chose the Marineford arc as "One Piece: Burning Blood" story mode, Koji Nakajima answered that it was the time where most of the characters were gathered together in one place for a big fight.
He also addressed the issue about how to get non-fans of "One Piece" to play "One Piece: Burning Blood". "We have implemented some basic elements which fighting game should have and so if you're playing online, you'll be able to read your opponents moves and decide how to act," Koji Nakajima said.
"Another point is even though you don't really know about 'One Piece,' all the devil fruit abilities will be really unique to this game," he added. "I mean, in other fighting games I've never seen a character actually transform himself into a dinosaur, I've never seen that in 'Tekken' or 'Street Fighter!'"
