'Rise of The Tomb Raider' DLC Content: Lara Croft Will Meet 'Resident Evil' Hero Leon Kennedy?

For fans of Lara Croft and the survival horror genre, it will be pretty interesting to know that the latest DLC for "Rise of The Tomb Raider" looks like it wants to pay homage to the famed "Resident Evil" game series.

Everybody who's played "Rise of The Tomb Raider" will know that the game pits game heroine Lara against human mercenaries, wild animals and even ancient mystical warriors. But according to Kotaku, the new add-on named "Cold Darkness Awakened" pits Lara against what people might call zombies.

But more than just being the slow-walking, bumbling zombies that have become famous in older "Resident Evil" games, this is the kind that would make Gerry from "World War Z" hope for a bigger, faster miracle: these zombies are fast runners that'll use weapons such as knives and explosives, as well as riot shields to kill Lara.

This could possibly be explained by the add-on's plot, reports WhatCulture. Here's the plot that accompanied the official release of the DLC:

"A decommissioned Cold War research base has been breached, unleashing a deadly affliction from its Siberian slumber. As the illness seeps into the wilderness surrounding the base, Trinity soldiers transform into bloodthirsty killers who thrive on carnage. To prevent the affliction from spreading, Lara must rely on her wits, physical agility, and crafting abilities to overcome this new enemy and shut down the decommissioned base."

In the game, players will be forced to stay out in the open, hoping to succeed in taking on the enemies and the challenge head-on. While moving around stealthily is a good choice, the game seems to push Lara out into the open to survive and ultimately finish her mission. This is the last add-on for "Rise of The Tomb Raider."

Now, what would it be like if Lara meets "Resident Evil" hero Leon S. Kennedy somewhere in the game? What do you think of "Cold Darkness Awakened?" What do you think of the plot? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
