Health Update: New Study Claims That Eating Apples Is The Secret To Long Life

A new study claims that eating an apple a day could make you live longer by 35%. Scientists at the University of Western Australia released this finding and it started to make a buzz online on March 31.

The Inquisitr shared that researchers sampled about 1,500 women for this project. Results showed that those who ate at least 100 grams of an apple, which is also equal to one apple a day, are possible to increase their life span. Women who ate less than 5 grams of apple a day were expected to not experience the many health benefits that they could get from it.

Flavonoids that are on an apple's skin are the main reasons why this fruit is responsible for giving long life. According to The Daily Mail, one of the researchers of this study, Dr. Jonathan Hodgson said, "Apples are amongst the top contributors to total flavonoid intake."

But what exactly are flavonoids? These are compounds that are often found in fruits like apples, berries and even in vegetables like radishes. They are significant in improving one's health because they serve as anti-oxidants, which helps in preventing cells from being damaged.

"Apples are a healthy fruit that are contributing to better health and potentially longer life expectancy," Dr. Hodgson revealed. "We have now shown that higher apple intake was associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality and cancer mortality in older women."

Regularly eating just one apple a day could already show improvement to those who are having issues with their arteries. This fruit has the ability to relax that part of the body, which could eventually regulate your blood pressure and normalize your blood flow.

This study also claims that people who are suffering from brain related disorders like Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease could be alleviated simply by having an apple a day. Hit the share button today and tell your friends and family about this great news.
