Presidential candidate for the Democratic nomination Hillary Clinton is set to appear at the Cohoes High School on Monday for a political rally. Students and school officials are already excited about her visit.
Times of Union said Clinton's political event could be the biggest yet in the history of the town. Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse said he and the entire locality are looking forward to Monday.
"We've got a lot of good buzz going on and I think the Clinton campaign decided they wanted to come to a city that is working really hard to bring back an old mill town," he added. "We're living up to our motto, Cohoes Proud."
It was added in the same report that she will appear at the high school's gymnasium which is expected to be packed with around 1,500 people on Monday night. Cohoes school Superintendent Jennifer Spring said it is a great opportunity for the educational institution to be part of this political campaign.
She added that they have already encouraged their more than 500 students to secure a ticket for them to be able to listen to Clinton's speech. Spring also claimed that a lot of individuals have also reached out to them to ask how they can witness the event.
According to News10, Cohoes was the chosen locality for the Clinton's political rally because she previously visited the pharmacy of Assemblyman John McDonald a few years ago. Since they already established contact, it was noted that Clinton's camp reached out to him.
"What better place to talk about the future of our country than in a place that educates our children," McDonald told News10. "It makes perfect sense."
The assemblyman also mentioned in a Time Warner Cable News report that school officials and local leaders are expected to ask Clinton on her platform of government. McDonald highlighted that the Cohoes community is very close and warm to its visitors.
