'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Update: 'BvS' Sinks In The Box Office On Its Second Week

In spite of negative reviews, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" breaks the box office records on its first weekend launched. However, in its second week, "BvS" faced a major sink on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

According to Forbes, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" second Friday showing plunged by 81 percent with just $15.35 million gross in the U.S. compared to its first week. By not including the Thursday night preview worth $27.7 million out of the $81.5 million earnings, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" went down by 71.5 percent.

But compared to other comic book adaptations, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which stars Ben Affleck (Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman), did not do too badly. Analyzing the Friday-to-Friday release, "Fantastic Four" dive by -78.7 percent, "Watchmen" (another Zack Snyder movie) sank at -78.4 percent and another "Batman" film, "The Dark Knight Rises" by Christopher Nolan, plummeted by -76.6 percent.

Deadline reported that the other films trailing "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in its second week are "Zootopia" by Disney ($20 million, -17 percent fifth frame hold and $275.8 million cume) and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" ($11.1million, -38 percent hold and $36.5 million cume). Next are "God's Not Dead 2" ($7.56 million opening) and "Miracle's From Heaven" starring Jennifer Garner ($7.38 million, down by -24 percent in its third weekend and $46.7 million cume).

However, "BvS" second week still made it better than "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," which sank by 72 percent with a total gross of $47.4. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is expected to earn about $1 billion worldwide. The $1 billion mark is no surprise to the box office and is not even the gross Warner Bros. and DC are looking forward to.
