"Sons of Anarchy" prequel and spinoff are confirmed, as FX CEO John Landgraf revealed that series creator Kurt Sutter is already working on the upcoming show. While the "SOA" prequel is expected to focus on the Mayans motorcycle crew, does this mean fans should give up any hopes to see Charlie Hunnam back as Jax Teller?
The "Sons of Anarchy" prequel, which is reportedly titled, "The First 9," will focus on the Mayans motorcycle crew, reports Variety in an interview with FX CEO John Landgraf. The spinoff will reportedly be set in the Northern California motorcycle club scene.
Landgraf also told the publication that the most awaited spinoff is already in the works, as series creator Kurt Sutter is "starting to re-engage with the 'Sons of Anarchy' spinoff." Landgraf, however, revealed that Sutter will not be involved with the writing or production of the spinoff.
Fans were excited to hear updates about the upcoming "SOA" prequel, as many have been waiting for the show's return since it came to an end in 2014. The prequel is expected to take place years before Jax's birth, which made a lot of fans wonder over Charlie Hunnam's participation in the series.
Given that the "Sons of Anarchy" prequel will take years prior to Hunnam's character's death, it makes more sense to see him take on a different role. Rumors are also rife that Brad Pitt will be playing the role of Jax's father, John Teller.
Not only is Hunnam unsure of his return in the "SOA" prequel, but he is also rumored to be dropping out of the popular movie franchise, "Pacific Rim 2." According to Inquisitr, the 35-year-old actor previously expressed his doubts over his reprisal of his role as Raleigh Becket.
"I think world creation and monster creation and all of that stuff is exciting as a secondary element of storytelling. When it becomes more important than storytelling, I get very nervous, and you sort of lose me a little bit," he said.
