Walmart is offering a $100 discount on iPhones and Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
Beginning last Friday, a $100 price cut was given to the latest iPhone models: iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, and the new four-inch SE, CNN Money reported. A $150 discount, on the other hand, is offered for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7. The deal will last through the end of June.
"Walmart is working with AT&T (T, Tech30), Verizon (VZ, Tech30) & Sprint (S) on the deal, so customers will see the discounts through their bills. Unfortunately, T-Mobile (TMUS) customers won't be able to take advantage of the promotion. The deal is also not available for online purchases," the news outlet wrote.
Apple's iPhone SE a Compelling Buy
The iPhone SE is equipped with the same features as the iPhone 6S, and the smartphone's appearance bears a resemblance with the iPhone 5S. The device, however, is a more compelling purchase for customers due to its affordable price. The base model, which has 16GB memory, can be bought for $399. With Walmart's latest offer, the handset is even more affordable than before.
The 4-inch SE also has the same A9 chip and M9 motion processor as the latest iPhone 6S, CNN Money noted. Other specs included in the SE are: a 12-megapixel iSight camera, 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 4K video recording, an NFC chip, Touch ID, Siri, Apple Pay and iOS 9, Apple's official website listed.
It can also take Live Photos, which are a cross between a video and a picture similar to GIFs. The SE can also fit into existing iPhone 5 or 5S cases.
Though some people think that the iPhone SE is just a mini 6S, there are a number of features missing in the smaller smartphone. These missing specs are the barometer sensor and the 3D touch, the pressure-sensitive touchscreen technology that was included in the 6S, CNN Money further reported.
In addition, the iPhone SE's angled edges that border it are now matte instead of shiny, the news outlet noted. The smartphone comes in gold, silver, gray, and rose gold variants, just like the 5S. The Apple logo on the SE's back is stainless steel, with the "SE" printed at the bottom part.
The iPhone SE's creation bore from people complaining that their small hands cannot navigate a bigger smartphone's screen with just one thumb. The device fits easily into small pockets, which is an advantage for people working in dangerous environments.
