Tennis News & Update: Azarenka Won Over Kuznetsova In Miami Open

With a straight-set victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova, Victoria Azarenka secured back-to-back titles in the Miami Open final. The Belarusian Azarenka won 6-3 6-2 in just 77 minutes. This performance came to add a third Miami title to her previous victories in 2009 and 2011.

According to BBC News, Victoria Azarenka, 26-year-old, will return to the world's top five. Two weeks ago she won in Indian Wells. After Steffi Graf (1994, 1996) and Kim Clijsters (2005), Azarenka becomes just the third woman to achieve the Indian Wells-Miami double.

Azarenka said that she was successful to concentrate on the present and not get distracted by the future. She also added that she will go "for the Sunshine Double."

On the other side, after her victory in Sydney in January her rival Russian Kuznetsova, aged 30, was bidding for her second title of the year. Kuznetsova said that Azarenka is "at the height of her game now," and so far, she is the one who dominates.

But, since the days of August in 2013 and until the start of this year, Azarenka actually had not won a singles title. Because of entry-date rules, she seeded just No. 13 in the Miami Open. However, all that didn't stop Azarenka from defeating No. 19 seed Svetlana Kuzentsova 6-3, 6-2, in just one hour, 17 minutes.

According to ESPN, Kuznetsova won just 14 percent of her second-serve points and she held serve just twice. Both players combined for 40 unforced errors, among them 22 by Kuznetsova alone.

With this new victory, Azarenka has now won five of the highest-level WTA events, including three in Miami. This performance is better than any other current player besides Serena Williams.

On the season, Azarenka improved to a remarkable 22-1. This year Azarenka has had no trouble sustaining her motivation. After her latest victory Azarenka said that all it starts with your mind, with your will. The body just follows after you decide what you want.
