A grandmother delivers her daughter's baby at home on Christmas Day, according to the Daily Mail
Kath Boucher, 49, checked up on her pregnant daughter, Leah Walters, 25 at around six in the morning to share stockings before heading the hospital but an hour later, they found themselves lying on the floor, cradling the best present of them all - a seven pound and nine-ounce baby Millie. "It was nerve-racking at the time - I knew nothing at all about delivering a baby. But the paramedics told me what to do down the phone and thankfully it all went very smoothly," said Kath.
"The baby was breathing but she didn't cry so I turned her over and rubbed her back and she let out a little squeal. I also made sure the cord wasn't around her neck. The baby was the best Christmas present we could have wished for - and I'm proud to say I delivered her myself." Mrs. Walters woke up on Christmas Day to open presents with her seven year old daughter, Ellie. Nearing her due date she and husband James, 19 have already planned that they would go to the hospital immediately after her water breaks but they weren't able to do so.
While the entire family panicked, grandmother Kath knew that they were too far along to go anywhere else. She immediately called 999 and followed the guidance taught to her by the paramedics. She acted as a midwife for her own daughter. At around 7:10 in the morning, Millie was born in the living room of their own home. Mr. and Mrs. Walters decided to add the name "Holly" as their daughter's second name to commemorate that day's festivity.
