Top 3 Modern Parenting Issues And How To Solve Them

Parents of this new generation are faced with modern issues when it comes to raising and dealing with their kids. Experts have offered helpful advice on how they can easily solve these parenting problems.

WPRI 21 noted that parents need to seek expert help when it comes to simple and complex issues with their kids. Here are some of the modern struggles parents face and how they can deal properly:

1. Climbing on furniture

The same report noted that toddlers now have a habit of climbing on chairs, tables and even drawers which can put at risk their safety. It explained that reprimanding them and always telling them not to do it just encourages them to do it even more.

It was suggested by WPRI 21 that since climbing is a normal developmental behavior for a growing child, parents should provide safe areas for them to climb. They can also allow them to practice climbing using a stool or a ladder.

2. Learning how to be an adult at a young age

According to TeachingSelfGovernance.com, children should be taught by their parents adult work skills like folding towels, arranging their laundry and simple cleaning. "By the time they are eight they should be able to prepare a simple meal and handle meal time clean up, as well as handle basic home and yard stewardships," the same report said.

These simple tasks can make parents feel proud and satisfied with how their kids are growing up. For the part of the children, they are able to learn useful skills which will help them in the future.

3. Parenting in an age of digital technology

The website Every Chance to Learn added that parents are also faced with the challenge of raising their kids in an age where they are highly dependent to gadgets like laptops, cellular phones and even televisions. These tech devices usually discourage kids to listen to their parents.

To solve this, the same report suggested that parents should establish "healthy media habits for their kids like timing their screen exposure and setting periods of the day when they can't use their gadgets. It was noted that kids would usually get used to practicing these habits without constant reminding.
