An obese woman depicts truth behind body image by taking creative snapshots of herself and captioning it based on her emotions, according to Yahoo! Shine.
Editors of Yahoo! selected the article that originally ran on April 24, 2013 because of its raw honesty. Jen Davis, a photography student from Brooklyn was at the beach with her friends in 2002 when she decided to take a snapshot of herself. The image showed her looking very uncomfortable in her own skin. Since then, Davis has been documenting her life in a series of photos which she calls "Self Portraits."
She has been snapping her most personal moments, saying: "I had never really photographed myself but that beach shot made me realize that I had to step in front of the camera. I needed to look at myself." Throughout the 11 years, Davis documented struggles with her weight as well as her 110-pound weight loss transformation with Lap-Band surgery.
