The second episode of “Hitman” is set to release soon. In a press release, game developer Square Enix announced that the game will launch on April 26, 2016.
GearNuke states that the “Hitman” franchise has built a reputation for its sophisticated stealth-action gameplay. Players take on the role of Agent 47, an assassin for hire, who goes after key targets all over the globe. “Hitman” is released in episodes, with Episode 1 releasing earlier in March 2016. The prologue was intended to help players become more familiar with the game mechanics and mission approach. It goes 20 years back when Agent 47 was newly inducted into the International Contract Agency to train.
Upon finishing the tutorial course, players can proceed to the Paris level, which is the first installment.
The second installment, titled “Sapienza,” will also be playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. There will be seven episodes released in total throughout 2016. Each episode will be set in a different location, with Episode 2 happening in Sapienza, Italy.
Polygon notes that that each episode will digitally release in 2016, but a physical edition of the game will not be available until 2017. So far, the episodic manner of releasing the game garnered mixed reactions from gamers. Some found the approach exciting, allowing them to enjoy the story, as well as spend more time exploring each episode. Others were not fond of waiting for an entire month to play new missions.
N4BB adds that the upcoming episode is set in the small fictional town of Sapienza in Italy. Based on the released images from the new installment, “Sapienza” will feature a good follow-up to Episode 1, which mostly showcased indoor levels. The map looks great and is done in outdoor sandbox style so that players can strategize carefully in completing their objectives.
In the meantime, players can practice their skills and strategies in the first episode, as well as complete any challenges left before “Sapienza” launches at the end of April 2016. The subsequent episodes will be set in other areas, such as Morocco. Other venues have yet to be announced.
Currently, a starter pack which includes the prologue mission and a map themed after Paris is already available at $14.99. The digital copy of the full game, which provides access to all six new locations, is also available at $59.99.
