Blizzard's upcoming hero-based shooter "Overwatch" recently released a new animated short featuring one of the game's assassins, the Widowmaker. And yes, Blizzard does know how to excite players.
The new animated short titled "Alive" not only shows off the Widowmaker's amazing skills as a sniper and a rival against famous character Tracer, the video also shows some conflict that fuels the game behind the scenes, reports Polygon. Here's the animated short:
Amélie LaCroix, more known as the Widowmaker, appears to be "living for the kill," notes The Verge. Some of her skills in-game are already featured in the video, such as that grappling hook she uses. Players will know that could be very handy.
"Alive" is set in London's King's Row, from which one of "Overwatch's" maps is based on. And although both Tracer and the Widowmaker faced each other during the game's debut trailer, it won't be bad to watch them go at it again - after all, players just might play with the characters again and again anyway.
Blizzard released the first animated short titled "Recall" last week. It featured Winston, a genius robotic gorilla facing off against a ghostly assassin. Here's "Recall," down here:
The "Overwatch" beta will start on May 5, but pre-ordering the game will allow for early beta access starting May 3. The game is set for release on May 24 for the PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Meanwhile, Tracer from "Overwatch" is making her debut appearance in Blizzard's hero MOBA clash "Heroes of the Storm," reports Kotaku. This gives her two debut games once "Overwatch" launches and she officially becomes playable in "HotS."
Tracer is reportedly an assassin-type character with a powerful basic ability considered to be first in the game: the ability to shoot normal attacks while moving. She also has a "blink" ability, a "rewind" skill that brings her back to where she was 3 seconds earlier, and a melee attack.
While that may be promising, her performances in both games remain to be seen.
