The title of the highly-anticipated "Spider-Man" reboot film may have been leaked by Sony itself. Right off the bat, it sounds very fitting to the wall-crawler's much-awaited entrance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to BBC, Sony registered the URL, SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com, prompting the publication to believe that "Spider-Man: Homecoming" could be the title of the film that will mark Peter Parker's return to the world he truly belongs.
The URL redirects to Sony, which Gizmodo says could be a hint that it really does have something to do with the company's project. But the publication believes it this URL is not automatically about the "Spider-Man" reboot.
The site says it could be referring the animated Spider-Man film that Phil Miller and Chris Miller will direct. It could also be any other film. Of course, more people are inclined to think "Spider-Man: Homecoming" could actually be the title of the "Spider-Man" reboot.
After all, Sony, the previous home of the web-slinging superhero, prevented him to appear alongside characters from the same comic book universe he was in. That is, of course, until it struck a deal with Marvel that resulted to the "Spider-Man" reboot.
Meanwhile, BBC also made mention of a 1980s Spider-Man comic book storyline titled "Homecoming," wherein Iron Man and Captain America (among other characters who have a live-action counterpart in the MCU) appeared.
Interestingly, the essayers of these heroes - Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans - have hinted months back that they will be back in Atlanta to shoot a new film, which is presumed to be the "Spider-Man" reboot movie.
If "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be based on the said storyline, the likes Venom, Lizard and Black Cat could be featured as the villains.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" seems like a likely title. It proves that the iconic superhero's arrival in the MCU scene is a big of a deal for both Marvel and Sony. Unfortunately right now, there's no way of knowing for sure that the "Spider-Man" reboot film will be called that.
The "Spider-Man" movie stars Tom Holland as the superhero. It will follow Peter Parker as a high school student and promises to skip the origin story. The film will release on July 7, 2017.
