Many are looking forward to the sequel of the American comedy fantasy film, "Beetlejuice." The rumors mills have been reporting that "Beetlejuice 2" is in the works but it seems that there is no progress at all. Is it true that "Beetlejuice 2" is on the way?
According to Showbiz Spy, "Beetlejuice" director Tim Burton announced that he will be working on "Beetlejuice 2" this year but MTV debunked the said report. For those who love to see "Beetlejuice 2," there are still chances that the film will be produced.
In fact, when Tim Burton promoted his film "Big Eyes" the "Beetlejuice" director teased that there will be "Beetlejuice 2," if Michael Keaton, who played the bio-exorcist in the first film will return.
"There's only one Beetlejuice, and that's Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character. There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever," Tim Burton told IGN.
Per Cross Map, Michael Keaton is willing to reprise his role in "Beetlejuice 2." "I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again," Keaton said.
Unfortunately, new reports suggest that a new actor will be replacing Michael Keaton in "Beetlejuice 2." If so, will Tim Burton still pursue the film?
According to NME, Michael Keaton is too busy to commit for "Beetlejuice 2," so the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, Johnny Depp will replace him. Per the report, Burton has moved on and has enlisted his regular collaborator, Johnny Depp to fill in Keaton's shoes.
Meanwhile, the report also notes that last month Tim Burton denied the reports about his confirmation that "Beetlejuice 2" is in the works. Per the director, there are no plans for a sequel and that he is busy with his next film, "Miss Peregrine'ss Home for Peculiar Children." The said film is due for release in September.
