Paul Walker Crash Update: Porsche Is Not Responsible For 'Fast And Furious' Star's Death, Judge Finds

A federal judge has ruled that Porsche is not at fault for the deaths of actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas. The "Fast and Furious" star and Rodas died in 2013 after a fatal car accident while in a Porsche in California.

"Where a case involves scientific issues that are 'beyond the experience of laymen,' expert testimony is required to establish causation," U.S. District Court Judge Philip S. Gutierrez wrote. Gutierrez added that the report from Roger Rodas' expert had insufficient evidence to prove that Porsche was at fault for the deaths of Paul Walker and his friend, The Hollywood Reporter shares.

Roger Rodas's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche in January. They blamed the luxury car company for a defect in Rodas' Porsche car.

Paul Walker's dad, Paul Walker III, and daughter, Meadow Walker, have filed similar claims but its results are still pending. "Meadow will continue the fight to hold Porsche accountable for selling a defective product that kills," Jeff Milam, attorney of Paul Walker's daughter, said in a statement.

Roger Rodas was driving a Porsche Carrera GT with the "Fast and Furious" actor in the passenger seat when they crashed on a Santa Clarita road in California, CNN reports. The car had a speed between 80 to 93 mph at the time of the crash. Paul Walker was 40-years-old and Roger Rodas was 38 at the time of their death.
