"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" director Neil Druckmann need not worry that PS4 gamers will be indifferent to the last of the Nathan Drake saga. Focus tests on "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" reportedly earned a lot of feedback for the Naughty Dog game.
IGN reports that the ending Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann gave to "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is a love-it-or-hate-it event. Druckmann said that he will take the hate anytime because indifference to "Uncharted 4" would be unbearable. Druckmann is certain that gamers will be buzzing over the "Uncharted 4" conclusion.
"If focus tests are anything to go by, there will be some arguments about the ending," Druckmann remarked. "I'm excited. Indifference would be the worst thing."
When asked if Nathan Drake is done for good, the "Uncharted" director left the issue hanging. Neil Druckmann stated in the past that the Nathan Drake storyline would be impossible to continue after "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
Apart from the prequels, Druckmann said he could not see any way for more Nathan Drake in the Naughty Dog game. Still, survival by the iconic thief will be a big deal and will keep hope alive for a Nathan Drake future somewhere down the "Uncharted" line.
From its beginnings in 2007, the "Uncharted" game had been able to maintain gamer interest because of Naughty Dog's ability to get players invested in the characters. Neil Druckmann shared that the formula he and Naughty Dog use is testing their own interest in the characters when they play the game.
Engadget reports that avid followers can also expect to see influences from Naughty Dog's hit post-apocalyptic game, "The Last Of Us," and benefits from previous iterations of the Nathan Drake story in "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End." The technical experience in bringing "The Last Of Us" to PS4 reportedly helped with the polish of "Uncharted 4" as well.
Sony will release "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" for Playstation 4 on May 10, 2016. Not too long now before the general public will be able to say if they love or hate what Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann did with the Nathan Drake lore in "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
