A specialized bed that costs $8000 can monitor heart rate, massage the user and help them prevent snoring, according to Guardian LV.
Select Comfort unveiled their newest product called the x12, at the International Consumer Electronics Show. The bed is capable of monitoring heart rate, breathing and positioning and the number of times a person gets out of bed during the night. Its proprietary Sleep IQ technology is located inside the bed itself, so sleepers no longer need to wear devices on their bodies while sleeping. Data taken by the bed may be sent to a computer, tablet or cellphone if so desired.
If sleeping with someone who snores becomes a problem, x12 can help with that too. There is a button on the Sleep Number universal remote that can be pressed and once done, it will automatically raise the other person's head by six degrees to stop them from snoring, according to Annie Bloomquist, chief product officer of Select Comfort.
The bed itself also works as a massager and comes with a timer that can be used to return the sleeper to a favorite sleeping position or massage setting. The bed may turn out a light or allow users to write a journal of activities that may affect their sleeping patterns, along with other factors like consumption of coffee, exercise and TV viewing. Other features of the bed include the ability to separately program the firmness on each side of the bed, independently raise or lower the or bottom half of the bed, and the use of voice commands when handling the remote.
