The classic tale of the "The Little Mermaid" will get a live treatment at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. The one-off event will feature Rebel Wilson, John Stamos and Sara Bareilles. Darren Criss and Tituss Burgess will also be in the cast.
Bareilles will play the mermaid Ariel in the live presentation. The singer and composer revealed that snagging the part has been a long-time dream. "I've been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage," she said per Rolling Stone.
"Pitch Perfect" star Wilson will play the villain Ursula and she also expressed she always wanted to play the role. Stamos is Chef Louis, while Criss will play Prince Eric. Also joining the live show is Burgess as Sebastian the crab. Before Burgess became a TV star via "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," he played the same role in the Broadway production.

The "Little Mermaid" live show will include a 12-piece choir and a 71-piece orchestra with Michael Kosarin. The conductor has worked with composer Alan Menken, who co-wrote the songs with Howard Ashman for the 1989 Disney movie. "That was my very first full score for a film," Menken said, per Billboard. "I was nervous and I learned an immense amount both in the writing and in the recording of the score."
Menken will also participate in the Hollywood Ball show. He's expected to conduct his other hits from "Beauty and The Beast," "Enchanted" and "Aladdin" as the opener. "Then I'm going to sit back and enjoy the show like everyone else," he remarked.
Tickets to "The Little Mermaid" live will begin selling online on April 9. Details are available at Ticket Master.
