Woman Informed by Doctors How She Would Die of Cancer in a Graphic and Offensive Way

Parents of a woman are complaining that their daughter was 'pushed over the edge' by her doctor after she was told in a graphic detail how she would die of cancer, the Daily Mail reports.

Fiona Clark, a consultant hematologist at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, was accused of disobeying the wishes of leukemia patient, Vicki Harvey, 24, and her family. Harvey informed doctors that she did not want to be kept updated on her terminal condition after being diagnosed a year earlier. Her parents, Eric, 62 and Lynn, 58, had also asked Dr. Clark to spare their daughter the truth, but their request was ignored. Vicki died on December 10, 2013.

Miss Harvey, who works as a beautician was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in September 2012 and had a successful stem cell transplant on Christmas Day the same year. After months in remission she relapsed in July last year at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. She was later on transferred to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and was placed under the supervision of Dr. Clark. At that point, Vicki decided she wouldn't want to be informed about her condition but was told by her doctor that "she was going to die".

Two weeks later, Vicki passed away and her parents are claiming that their daughter just gave up after she was told that she was going to die anyway. "When we were in Birmingham, Dr. Clark phoned me up and I had to beg with her for ten minutes not to tell Vicki that she was dying. The nurses knew it was on her record that she didn't want to know what was happening. It was Vicki's wish, she told us she didn't want to know anything bad."
