‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Bags The Top Prize In MTV Movie Awards

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" takes home the night's top prize as Movie of the Year during the 25th annual MTV Movie Awards. Daisy Ridley and J.J. Abrams took a dramatic entrance when they accepted the Golden Popcorn last Saturday.

MTV pays tribute to the Best Movie by having the audience wave hundreds of blue and white lightsabers as the winners made their entrance through a deconstructed recreation of the First Order's Starkiller Base, MTV reports. On behalf of the cast and crew of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Ridley and director Abrams received the award from Samuel L. Jackson and Alexander Skarsgard. "I gotta say, it was an incredible honor to be part of the Star Wars saga," Abrams said, proudly holding the prized golden popcorn.

Ridley received an early birthday present at that night, receiving the golden popcorn for Breakthrough Performance in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." "It feels especially amazing to be part of a film that represents all genders, all races, and all ages in a positive way," she said when she accepted the golden trophy, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The British actress won over Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), Brie Larson (Rooom), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey), co-star John Boyega (The Force Awakens) and O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Sraight Outta Campton) for the award. Aside from these, "The Force Awakens" also bagged the Best Villain for Adam Driver's portrayal of Kylo Ren.

MTV Movie Awards will be aired on Sunday on MTV, Comedy Central and other Viacom channels. Check out this quick tour of the Movie Awards set before the awards night:
