As President Barack Obama's time as the U.S. President winds down, he reflected on his experiences as the country's leader. Obama said that failing to properly plan for the aftermath of the late Moammar Gadhafi's ousting in Libya back in 2011 is his worst mistake as the president of the U.S.
"Probably failing to plan for the day after what I think was the right thing to do in intervening in Libya," President Obama told Fox News via CNN. The U.S. President has also spoken about this issue in his UN speech last September when he talked about the coalition with the U.K. failing to fill the vacuum left behind by the toppling of Gadhafi's government.
However, National Security Council spokesperson Ned Price told CNN that Obama values Prime Minister David Cameron as a partner and his contributions to national security and foreign policy. The NSC spokesman also noted that President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron have a special and important relationship as leaders. Price added that both the U.S. and U.K. could have done better in the aftermath of the Libyan civil war.
But what about Obama's biggest accomplishment as the president of the United States? President Obama believes that saving the economy from recession after George W. Bush's term is a highlight of his presidency, ABC News reports.
