The hype about the sequel of "Beetlejuice" continues to intensify, despite Tim Burton's lack of confirmation and contradicting statements. A new report reveals that "Beetlejuice 2" will start after Burton's "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."
Tim Burton on "Beetlejuice 2"
Over a year ago, "Beetlejuice" director Tim Burton confirmed to IGN that "Beetlejuice 2" is ready for production and that he is excited to work with Michael Keaton again. In fact, he teases that "Beetlejuice 2" is closer than ever. "I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character. There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever," Burton said.
However, NME recently reported that Tim Burton's camp denied that "Beetlejuice 2" is in the works. Per the report, Burton is busy with "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children." Also, the report notes that the original "Beetlejuice" star Michael Keaton is busy and could not commit to doing "Beetlejuice 2," suggesting that the sequel might not happen at the time.
Writer-Producer Confirms "Beetlejuice 2"
Entertainment Weekly previously reported that Seth Grahame-Smith will be rebuilding the '80s and '90s childhood because among his upcoming project is the sequel to "Beetlejuice." Grahame-Smith confirmed "Beetlejuice 2" and even teases that Winona Ryder will return in the film.
"I think we landed on the right idea, landed on the right approach. It's just now making sure that-for me-I don't want to shit my pants in front of the entire world, making a sequel to one of my favorite movies," Grahame-Smith said. He added that he already emailed the "Beetlejuice" director, which he knows is as excited as him.
Grahame-Smith explained that Tim Burton will be working on "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children" first, but he is hoping that the deals will be done earlier. So that once "Peregrine" wraps up, they can proceed with "Beetlejuice 2." He hinted that their target time is "toward the end of this year."
"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" will be released this September. So hopefully, Tim Burton and Grahame-Smith will make progress with "Beetlejuice 2" by the end of the year.
