One of the highly anticipated movie comebacks this year is Marvel's superhero Spider-Man, which already had two different trilogies with different actors. Now that Sony and Marvel has the right to Spider-Man again, it was only natural that the two companies should make another "Spider-Man" movie. However, this time around, it will create a movie that can do justice to the superhero.
After news came out not too long ago that Sony recently registered four "Spider-Man" domain that fans theorized to be the working titles of the new "Spider-Man" film, it was finally announced by Sony that the title for "Spider-Man" is "Spider-Man: Homecoming." The announcement of the new "Spider-Man" movie title, "Spider-Man: Homecoming," was made by Tom Holland, who will play the hero in the movie, and Sony chairman Tom Rothman at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The announcement of the new "Spider-Man" movie title also came along with the reveal of the official "Spider-Man" logo, as well as an exclusive clip. Tom Rothman also explained as to why they went along with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as the title for the new "Spider-Man" film. He said that it will concentrate on Spider-Man's high school life and being a vigilante at the same time.
"Saving the world and getting your algebra homework done at the same time," Tom Holland commented on the chosen title. Tom Holland also said the title resonates because "Peter (Parker) is trying to find his way home."
It was also announced that Michael Keaton will play a menacing villain in the "Spider-Man" film. In fact, he is rumored to play the villain, Vulture in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
This move from Marvel and Sony is quite a good choice since Michael Keaton has had major success with his two films that came out recently and adding him to the cast would be a major plus. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be in theater on July 7, 2017.
