Lesbian Daughter of Hong Kong Tycoon Writes Open Letter: Asks Him to Stop Offering Millions To Get Her Married To A Straight man

The lesbian daughter of a flamboyant Hong Kong tycoon, Cecil Chao, has written an open letter to her father asking him to stop offering millions to an eligible bachelor to marry her.

Gigi Chao, the daughter of Hong Kong industrialist, Cecil Chao, sent an open letter to her father asking him to stop his antics after he disclosed to a Malaysian newspaper that he may double the amount previously offered to win over his daughter's heart.

Cecil Chao has been in the headlines quite a number of times since he declared a reward of HK $500 million, (nearly US $65 million), to get his daughter married to an eligible bachelor who would also be his successor in business.

Initially, Gigi Chao had not raised any objections to the actions of her father but now she wants her father to accept the fact that she is a lesbian and happily married to her partner. Her father's offer of money was doubled after she eloped with her long-term partner Sean Eav, and got married in Paris.

"I'm sorry to mislead you to think I was only in a lesbian relationship because there was a shortage of good, suitable men in Hong Kong," she writes. "There are plenty of good men, they are just not for me," the daughter wrote, reports CNN.

Chao also clearly expressed in the letter about her discomfort in the presence of males. "You know I've had male lovers in the past...But it was always short-lived, as I quickly lost patience, and felt an indescribable discomfort in their presence," wrote Chao in the letter published in South China Morning Post.

Chao had received 20,000 Facebook friend requests and several letters from gay men and army officers after the marriage deal was announced by her father. Some of the requests were blatant, openly stating, "I want to be a billionaire," reports npr.

"I am comfortable and satisfied with my life and completely at ease with her. My regret is that you have no idea how happy I am with my life, and there are aspects of my life that you don't share," stated the letter.

There are rumors that Sacha Baron Cohen, an English actor inspired by the story of the tycoon, reportedly wants to make a film on the same.
