Avid "Doom" fans are definitely excited as the classic shooter game of the '90s is finally having its revival this 2016. The reboot, titled, "DOOM," is reportedly more gory and horrifying than its predecessors.
"Doom" was first released in 1993 and just two years after, the game already attracted 10 million players. But just recently, the studio behind "Doom" was inviting players to test the new beta version of the classic shooter game for free from Apr. 15-17, BBC News reveals.
Due to the announcement, many players expressed their delight on social media. However, some "Doom" fans complained about the slowness of the new version while others experienced server problems.
Meanwhile, in addition to the new "Doom" open beta, fans can look forward to the gameplay reboot titled, "DOOM." The revival is reportedly offering new features that will bring the game's brutality to a new level and here are 3 latest scoops about the latest version of "Doom."
1. "DOOM" single-player mode will be more intense.
The single-player campaign of "DOOM" is reportedly more intense as players will see how a lone Marine will survive the mission to the research Union Aerospace Corporation research facility on Mars, which is overrun with demons. According to Heavy, players can choose their own weaponry while character upgrades will be available as they faceoff with Hell's vicious dwellers.
Health and armor power-ups are also available. However, "DOOM" single-player mode will reportedly take more than 13 hours to complete.
2. "DOOM" multiplayer mode will feature progression and customization systems.
In "DOOM" multiplayer beta, player progression is definitely much grander. Bloody Disgusting notes that "DOOM" has almost 300 pieces of armor falling into five different themes, more than 90 primary and secondary paint colors and over 50 paint patterns to choose from.
These features are added to the five character "templates" including UAC, Demonic, Bounty Hunter, Templar and Utilitarian. "DOOM" also has hundreds of customization options on full display.
"DOOM" will also have six different multiplayer modes such as Soul Harvest, Freeze Tag, Warpath, Clan Arena, Team Deathmatch and Domination. The reboot also comes with the "Demon Muliplayer Pack," which contain one Demon-themed armor set with three skin variations, six Hack Modules, six metallic armor paint colors and three id Software logo patterns that can be tagged to your weapons and armor.
3. "DOOM" is coming next month.
As for "DOOM" release date, the full gameplay reboot will be released on May 13, as per GameSpot. It will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms.
"DOOM" Season Pass is also set to bring more content. Three premium multiplayer DLC packs will be connected to the whole Season Pass' content offering and id Software also vowed to add free DLC over time like new SnapMap features.
