High-levels of caffeine in the body has been found to have negative side effects including headaches, mood swings and shaking but there's more to it than just that, according to Yahoo! Shine.
Dr. Bryce Wylde, author of the national best seller "The Antioxidant Prescription: How to Use the Power of Antioxidants to Help Prevent Disease and Stay Healthy For Life", unveiled various facts on what really goes on when your body is high in caffeine. According to Dr. Wylde, drinking too much coffee leads to depression. Restricting caffeine and sugar in people with depression has been reported to elevate mood in preliminary research.
Other than this, drinking too much coffee may also cause gastritis. Gastritis is a broad term for the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and it may also lead to ulcer. Caffeine found in coffee, as well as other types of liquids like tea, soft drinks and cocoa increases stomach acid. What's more, Dr. Wylde further confirms that too much caffeine may also lead to infertility. Caffeine consumption of more than two cups per day has been associated with fallopian tubal disease and endometriosis, which then may lead to female infetility.
Osteoporosis has also been found as one of the its caffeine's side effects. People with brittle bones or osteoporosis doubles their risk of bone fracture, particularly in the hip, spine and wrist areas. Lastly, many pre-menopausal women suffer from symptoms of premenstrual syndrome of PMS that has also been linked to caffeine consumption. It is therefore suggested that for most people, moderate doses of caffeine equivalent to a tall cup of Starbucks may still be the maximum amount consumed.
