There are few ways that some can lose their weight effectively without cutting a big portion of their meals. Dr. Brian Wansink revealed five simple tips and tricks that can help you cut out those extra pounds permanently that can lead to a healthy new you.
1. Shop Slim
According to Sunday World, Dr. Wansink advised everyone to shop for food more cautiously by checking the labels and contents of the food. Also, Wansink said that it is better to do shopping with a full stomach to avoid binge eating in the malls. If ever the cravings strike, he disclosed one should opt to chew gums when rounding the supermarket.
2. Keep Away The Leftovers
Dr. Wansink explained that you could less than what you're really eating by 19 percent. But this can only happen when you hide the leftovers away from yourself. People tend to eat more when food is readily available even if they don't feel hungry -- sometimes, they're just bored.
3. Organized Menu Reading
When you're out and scanning the food menu in a restaurant, you should read via Z-shaped pattern. Reading from the top left to the top right down to the middle going to the bottom left and end at the bottom right, as per Daily Express.
Search the whole menu for food that will trigger your appetite by the way it looks. According to studies, food that have "succulent," "old-style" and "traditional English" on its names are the most enticing kinds of food that sell up to 28 percent more.
Food with "buttery" on its label have an additional 102 calories, while "crispy" has 131 calories. On the other hand, "seasoned" and "roasted" have 60 fewer calories compared to unseasoned meals.
4. Buffet Plan
Even if buffet restaurants offer "eat all you can" meals, you still have to manage your food intake. Overweight people are more likely to get a large plate and put everything they want to eat, while slimmer ones tend to pick their food cautiously.
Hence, one should pick a smaller plate and pick the food they know they can consume. Also, chewing for about 15 times has its effects that will make you feel full and not to binge eat when buffet tables are around.
5. Compare your Carbs
Daily Mail added that the use of large and white plates also have its effect on a person's appetite. It has been known that eating on smaller plate will make you cut your food intake, unconsciously making you feel like you ate a lot.
But the truth is, making use of darker-colored plates can probably make more of an impact on your goal to lose weight. Apparently, using dark plates will make you less gluttonous, as the color contrasts against the hues of your food.
