"Fifty Shades of Grey" the movie is a year away, and while the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey have been nailed down, other characters have yet to be assigned - at least publicly.
Could a recent Instagram picture posted by the book's author E.L. James hold a clue?
"Katie Cassidy...isn't she flexible?" James posted below a picture of the "Gossip Girl" actress holding a yoga-like pose.
Given that Cassidy, with her long brown hair, resembles Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia, fans were quick to speculate that the post could mean Cassidy will play the role of Leila Williams.
In the books, Anastasia is caught off guard by how closely she resembles Leila, who was involved with Grey roughly two and a half years prior to the events spelled out in "Fifty Shades of Grey." Lelia left Christian when she met her husband, and left her husband for her lover Geoff, who died in a car crash, triggering Leila's mental breakdown.
Another possibility mentioned was that of Elena, or Mrs. Robinson, Grey's friend and business partner, who is described as appearing to be in her late 30s or early 40s. She can be blamed for Christian's interest in S&M, which she introduced to him when he was just 15.
Possible picks for this character have also included Rose McGowen, who was seen having dinner with James back in November, Katie Holmes and "True Blood's" Kristin Bauer Van Straten.
Besides "Gossip Girl," Cassidy, who was born in Los Angeles in 1986, has appeared in the TV shows "Arrow," "New Girl," "Melrose Place," "Harper's Island" and "Supernatural." She played Amanda in the movie "Taken" and Tiffany in "When a Stranger Calls." Back in 2005, Cassidy played the role of Zoe in "7th Heaven."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is scheduled to be released Valentine's Day of next year.
