"How to Get Away with Murder" star Viola Davis has her own share of struggles as a mother. The actress said she is still in the stage of discovering how to become the best mother for her children.
According to People, Davis wants to give her best to her three children - Genesis, her 4-year-old adopted daughter, and two stepchildren. "When you have a child, you want to be a perfect mother. You feel like you have the absolute plan to be a perfect mother - and then you make a mistake, and we all make mistakes," the 50-year-old actress told People.
She added that parents should never go wrong with it comes to her kids. Davis wants to make sure that she keeps them all safe 24/7. "I know one girl who's a fantastic mother, [but] she lost her daughter in an aquarium for 30 minutes," she shared.
However, the actress claimed that dealing with Genesis and the two children of husband Julian Tennon from previous relationships has taught her that the term "perfect mother" does not exist. She said that she has learned to accept this reality over the years.
"You have those moments: exhaustion, the stress of having an exuberant child, and you don't want to be judged by your worst mistakes," added Davis. "It's a part of life, and it's a part of what makes us who we are."
Davis is known to be very close to her kids especially to Genesis. An earlier Today report said her daughter once hacked her Instagram account last year and sent her a sweet message prior to bagging the outstanding lead actress in a drama series award during the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards.
"I love you, Mommy, and I hope you win another Emmy. You're my favorite girl. I love you," Genesis said in the video. Davis was recognized for her outstanding performance as Annalise Keating in the TV series "How to Get Away with Murder."
