An Amber Alert issued for two children abducted in Pennsylvania has been cancelled following their rescue.
The 3-year-old sister and 4-year-old brother are both reportedly safe and the two suspects in custody, according to police.
The alert was issued early Friday after the children were taken by gunpoint the night before from a home in Lancaster City, Penn., according to 6ABC. A hunt for the suspects' 1994 black Nissan Altima quickly ensued.
Just before 8 a.m. Friday, police stopped a car fitting the description on Route 1 at Route 76. Inside were the brother and sister and two suspects - the children's father, Eddie Ahorrio, Jr., 23, and grandfather, Eddie Ahorrio, Sr., 47.
The children were reportedly taken from their home following an argument, police said, adding that the children were sleeping and uninjured when police found them.
Both they and the suspects were taken to the Pennsylvania State Police Philadelphia Barracks. According to authorities, they will be turned over to the Lancaster City Police Department and their family.
Connecticut was alerted as well since authorities believed the suspects may have been on their way to Massachusetts.
The Amber Alert Program represents a partnership between law-enforcement officials, broadcasters, transportation authorities and the wireless industry and is designed to quickly inform the public of a missing child. The system was initiated when a 9-year-old girl named Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas, in 1996.
According to MissingKids.com, Amber Alerts had helped rescue and return 679 children as of Jan. 3.
