Coachella is an annual music festival that happens in Coachella Valley, California. Every year, lots of young people go there to enjoy some world-class music and artists. It does sound fun and cultured but the reality behind the fun and the amazing music would make parents think twice before allowing their kids to attend the Coachella Music Festival. There are two major concerns that you should be aware of if your teenage kids asked for your permission to attend Coachella.

Age Restriction

Although the Coachella Music Festival is generally open to all ages, the on-site camping activity has an age limit. Based on Coachella's official website, they have to be at least 18 years old or they must be accompanied by a legal guardian. If your teenage son or daughter who is 17 and below asked your permission to go to the festival, you should be aware that they cannot participate at the on-site camp without you. To ensure their safety, you must be there to see the whole festival with them.

Drugs and Alcohol

The presence of drugs and alcohol is the major concern in this music festival. There have already been reports and stories of teenagers dying of drug overdose during the Coachella Music Festival. The story of Kimchi Truong featured by LA Weekly is just one of those that parents should learn from. Drugs like ecstasy, LSD, and marijuana are just among the substances present in this festival. It is best not to expose your children to these activities, especially if they are underage.

Now that you know this, make sure that you explain to your child why you are not allowing them to attend this festival without your supervision. Share this information to your loved ones today.
